- Is this really free?
- Yes. This YouTube downloader is completely free during our beta period. We'll introduce an optional paid plan later, but core downloads will always have a free tier.
- Can I download just the audio?
- Yes. After pasting your link, choose the audio-only option to get just the sound, without the video.
- Do I need to install an app?
- No. FastClips runs entirely in your browser on desktop or mobile — nothing to install, nothing to configure.
- What video quality do I get?
- You'll see up to 3 options: a video-only file at the highest resolution YouTube has available (no sound), a combined video-with-sound file at 360p, and an audio-only file. The 360p cap on the combined file is a real limit on YouTube's own side, not ours — YouTube stopped offering a single higher-resolution file with sound built in years ago.
- Why doesn't the HD video have sound?
- YouTube itself no longer bundles audio into video files above 360p — high-resolution video and audio are served as separate files. Combining them into one file would require video-processing infrastructure we don't run (to keep this tool free), so we offer both pieces separately instead.
- Is it safe to use?
- Yes. We don't ask for your YouTube or Google login, we don't store the videos you download, and we don't require any personal information to use the tool.
